I really enjoyed painting this pretty little jersey calf.  I loved the negative shapes around the calf, also the dark accents of her hoof, eye and nose which focus the attention on the main area of interest.

King Of The Barnyard

Painting this bright little oil study gave me a real lift, lots of contrast in color and value always makes me happy.  Trying to depict movement in the back of the neck was a challenge but I am pleased with the result.

I decided to paint this cute Australian native animal for Sophia, the young daughter of a friend of mine who lives in the UK.  Thought it would be nice to for Sophia to have a little bit of Australia to enjoy.

I really like the strong tonal value contrast, abstracted background and red ground of this small work.  Really enjoyed the experimentation.

My goal in this work was to concentrate on brushwork and capturing movement .  I am quite pleased with the result and feel that I am making progress which motivates me to keep trying.
